OVERVIEW

Our goal is renew and refresh the material from Qigong Meditation Basics 1  and then to explore methods to increase one's energy levels in the body.  We explore breathing techniques, methods to ignite internal energy, and continued soft-body movement exercises to help accomplish this.   This allows us to feel more vital and vibrant in our everyday living.

The theme of this class is:   Breathing Techniques and the Three Fires

After reviewing the basic methods of Qigong Meditation Basics 1  for dealing with the primary energy drain of the body (namely lack of grounding and negative emotional states), we look to explore methods to increase our overall energy.  Reviewing the emotional work is essential, so that any energy we add to the system does not end up being wasted by simply amplifying negative emotions.  With this as foundation, we explore ancient Chinese breathing methods combined with internal work to build up the energy of the body.  In so doing, we work with the internal power plants of the body (the Three Fires).   All of this is supported by learning additional soft-body movement exercises (qigong) and a qigong form called Activate the Three Fires.  in the end, we lay the groundwork to Awaken the Healing Light, covered in Qigong Meditation Basics 3

ABOUT QIGONG MEDITATION BASICS 2

We will learn two new fundamental meditations for emotional and spiritual well-being:

  1. Natural Breathing Qi Ball:  natural relaxation method one can do anywhere
  2. Reverse Breathing Qi Ball:  easy meditative way to feed qi to the kidneys

In addition to the meditations, we will learn some supportive physical qigong:

  • Tao Yin Qigong (2nd set):  learn ways to invigorate through basic stretching
  • Ocean Breathing:  simple but powerful soft body movement to increase qi flow
  • Seated Qigong:  simple movements done in a chair to revitalize
  • Deep Earth Pulsing:  soft body movement method to get grounded
  • Breathing Methods:  natural, bellows (energizer), holding the one to activate the three fires, reverse, embryonic
  • Activate the Three Fires Form:  qigong form designed to ignite healing energy   (Part 1 to Three Fires and Six Directions Form)
  • Phoenix:  short qigong practice using the Six Healing Sounds
  • Iron Bridge:  undo compression and tension in the upper back with this practice

Along with the material in this section, we will review some of the meditations and qigong from Qigong Meditation Basics 1.
